September 24-October 3, 2007

The Council of Brooklyn Neighborhoods and the Hunter Center for Community Planning and Development will present the 2007 UNITY proposal for development over Brooklyn's Vanderbilt rail yards.

What if Atlantic Yards is not built?
What if it's only partly built?
Then what?

With lawsuits pending and serious questions regarding benefits and costs appearing almost daily, the Atlantic Yards project is far from a "done deal."

The UNITY plan is based on community endorsed development principles and realized by a team of professional designers and city planners. The Plan provides a set of guidelines for realistic and sensitive development that encourages both growth and respect for the surrounding neighborhoods. The Plan is based on the results of the UNITY Workshop held earlier this year (See story below).

Models for the proposal were developed by a design team under the direction of Marshall Brown of the College of Design, Architecture, Art and Planning of the University of Cincinnati. The models and explanatory boards will be on display at the Soapbox Gallery from September 24th to October 3rd.
